When it comes to effective muscle-building protein supplements, whey goes to the top of the list. This type of protein is especially effective for post-workout supplementation, which is why it has become a staple for bodybuilders worldwide. One of the most common ways to supplement a workout with whey protein is by drinking whey protein shakes. But, before we tell you all about delicious whey protein shake recipes, you first have to understand that not all whey proteins are created equal. There are, in fact, three forms of whey protein – concentrate, isolate, and hydrolysates. Among these three forms, concentrate’s quality varies most of all. This means that the actual amount of protein in whey concentrate can vary greatly, depending on the process it underwent. This form of whey has a mild flavour that can easily be enhanced by adding flavours like vanilla and chocolate.

Master bodybuilders usually recommend whey isolate as the most bioactively available of all forms of whey protein. This form also contains the highest amount of actual whey protein at around 90% by weight. Hydrolysates are partially hydrogenated and are not really considered to be very healthy. It also contains a taste which most people find unpleasant, which is why it is not advisable for inclusion in whey protein shake recipes.

Now that you know the basics about the three forms of whey protein, you should be ready for some delicious whey protein shake recipes. Aside from being an effective post-workout supplement, whey protein shakes are also great meal alternatives for those looking to lose some excess weight. Some people simply take a whey protein shake powder and mix it with their favourite ingredients like coffee, fruits, or other goodies. For the more adventurous type, the peanut butter delight and banana-flavoured whey protein shake are very popular choices.

HOW TO MAKE DELICIOUS PEANUT BUTTER DELIGHT, AND GORGEOUS BANANA WHEY PROTEIN SHAKES

To make the peanut butter delight, simply combine the following ingredients in a blender: 12 ounces of low fat Milk, 2 scoops of whey protein powder, one tablespoon of peanut butter, one tablespoon of low fat whipping cream, and 4 ice cubes. Blend them together until thoroughly mixed. A banana-flavoured whey protein shake is just as easy to make. Combine 12 ounces of Milk, 2 scoops of whey protein powder, one banana, one tablespoon of low fat cream, and 4 ice cubes in a blender and then blend them into a delicious and frothy treat.

There are, however, some drawbacks to using even the most delicious whey protein shake recipes. First, whey protein is a no-no for vegans since it is of an animal origin. Second, some people experience digestion problems with whey protein. They may cause constipation or upset stomach if your digestive system is very sensitive. If any of these drawbacks apply to you, it may be best to supplement your workouts with soy protein instead. Otherwise, keep working on those delicious recipes and you should be on your way to a healthily gorgeous body.
